The earth has a magnetic dipole and there is a magnetic field around the earth called magnetosphere. The earth's magnetic field deflects most of the charged particles from the solar wind, which is a stream of charged particles, mostly electrons and protons, ejected from the sun. I want to analyze the boundary of the area that the charges can't enter(shadow zone) If we regard the earth as charged particle, which is known as Rutherford scattering, the shadow zone become parabola. If we regard the earth as the monopole, what is the shape of the shadow zone.
