An Elliptic Fibration over the Three-fold Coming from Free Rigid Bodies

6月5日(金) 13時30分

The flow of the Euler equation for a free rigid body is contained in the intersection of two quadrics defined by the first integrals, which is an elliptic curve generically. An elliptic fibration is naturally constructed over the three-dimensional complex projective space, whose coordinates can be regarded as the principal axes of the inertia tensor of the rigid bodies. This elliptic fibration is studied from the complex algebro-geometric viewpoint.
